Aviel Hod – Filmmaker – Aviator Camera Gear Pro

Look out everybody, Aviel Hod is going places and with velocity! Aviel is the youngest member of The Aviator Camera Gear Pro Crew (17 years old when we signed him on). Yet his style shows a much more experienced voice. Aviel grew up in Northern California where he got into skateboarding at an early age and longboarding soon after. Surfing the Internet, he came across a few longboard videos that really stood out and inspired him to create his own. Starting with a GoPro camera he never left home without it. When that was no longer good enough, he invested in a DSLR and was constantly doing research on how to get the most out of it. Since then he has placed filmmaking first and longboarding second. He films for some of the leading longboard brands such as Original Skateboards and Abec11 Wheels. Although longboarding is not the only thing he shoots, he says it has definitely taught him how to be a much more versatile filmmaker. Here's a great video Aviel shot with a 5DmIII using Magic Lantern RAW and The Aviator Travel Jib. Beautiful.  I think we'll be seeing lots of great things from Mr. Hod. Stay tuned.

Nikon's Waterproof Mirrorless Camera & The Aviator Travel Jib

Uber talented filmmaker and photographer Celin Serbo shot this video on assignment for Nikon/Subaru of their 3 day Hudson River Valley Adventure Media trip using the Nikon 1 AW1 prior to it's release. He also brought an Aviator Travel Jib as one of his tools to help capture the natural beauty. The video was shot entirely with the Nikon 1 AW1 waterproof ruggedized mirrorless camera. Nice! Check it out.

Anthony Arendt – Aviator Camera Gear Pro Team Member

Anthony Arendt was the camera operator on the mega hit AVATAR. For over 3 1/2 years Anthony worked side by side James Cameron, from the very beginning, to the very end of production. " It was overwhelming at times. Everyone around me had at least 1 academy award, and the technology was so new we were making it up as we went along most of the time. James is a perfectionist, it really kept you on your toes 24-7." Of course Anthony didn't start out working with one Hollywood's most successful filmmakers of all time. Anthony's passion for the cinematic arts started early. At age 15 he bought a used Nikkormat camera with a 24mm lens from a consignment window from Boulevard camera in Santa Monica, Ca. For the next 5 years if you saw Anthony, you saw that camera strapped around his shoulder. From action shots at local skateboard parks, and surfing at Malibu's finest, to head shots, and Testing Models at the local LA modeling agency's . Nothing was off limits. "It was the best way to learn. Shoot everything in every condition possible with every film possible, pretty soon all the technology you were so afraid of, became just another paintbrush to pull out of the ever growing paintbox. Growing up in Malibu, California surrounded by the industry, it was probably inevitable that Anthony would migrate from stills to the cinematic arts of the Hollywood film industry. through the years Anthony has been fortunate to learn from some of Hollywood's greatest cinematographers and Directors. From that teen with the Nikkormat chasing skateboards, to the world class DOP he has become this present day, its the passion, adrenalin, the willingness to be different in pursuit of cinematic excellence that will define him for years to come. Celin Serbo – Aviator Camera Gear Pro Team Member

Celin Serbo came to video and film making from a photography background that began in 1997 while working as a mountain guide in Estes Park, CO. This allowed him incredible opportunities to travel and document the adventures with photographs. Excited by the incredible video technology that was accessible at relatively low costs in the dslr market, and already owning Nikon video capable dslr’s, he began the process of learning as much as I could about video and it’s ability to offer a more complete spectrum of visual media to his projects and clients. As with a growing number of pro shooters, the majority of Celin's jobs require that he deliver both photographs and video to his clients. About this Celin said, "These worlds are blending together and I’m excited for the future." Celin is currently based in Louisville, CO, where he serves on the board of directors for the American Photographic Artists (APA) Colorado chapter. This allowed me incredible opportunities to travel and document my adventure with photographs. As this hobby slowly transform into a profession, I was able to make the full-time career transition to photography in 2009. As the film medium gave way to digital it was exciting to see the incredible video technology that was accessible at relatively low costs in the dslr market. Already owning Nikon video capable dslr’s, I began the process of learning as much as I could about video and it’s ability to offer a more complete spectrum of visual media to my projects and clients. The learning curve has been steep and there are many differences from photography. It is and will be a continual learning process that I have embraced and enjoy.
